Build 0.1.3 patch notes

Internal build 0.1.3: day-night water levels, a first HUD, save slots and a long list of fixes. Known issues included, as always.

Internal build 0.1.3 went out to testers this week. It is the first build with a full day cycle and the first one we would let a stranger play for more than ten minutes.

Added

  • Water level now follows the day cycle. Low tide at dawn, high tide two hours after dusk.
  • First HUD pass: map, stamina, warmth and an eight-slot inventory.
  • Three save slots. Saving happens only at the stilt house.
  • Placeholder audio for reeds, water and footsteps on wet wood.
Work-in-progress HUD with map, status bars and inventory
The HUD is deliberately sparse. Everything on it has to earn its place.

Changed

  • Reed fields are spawned from ReedField volumes instead of hand-placed prefabs.
  • Boat drag increased by 15 percent in dense reeds.
  • The north-east island sits half a metre lower (see devlog #1).

Fixed

  • Crash on load when a save contained a raft with zero planks.
  • Stilts could be placed inside each other, producing a very tall and very illegal house.
  • The moon rendered in front of the reeds at certain angles.

Audio occlusion ignores the house wallsPlanned for 0.1.4

Build numbers are cheap. We will keep shipping them as long as each one is playable.

The first region of SWAMP started as a rectangle of water. Three weeks later it has islands, a survey path and a reason to be scared of the north edge. Here is how we got there.

Welcome to the studio
